Surprise !

Julia and Thomas had some unexpected news, confirmed the day before they went on holiday to Israel on the 8th of November. They were to adopt a new a baby boy -Domenik, 5 months old and a brother for Christian. Christian was happy to have a new baby but wasn't sure about a brother as "............he would take my cars ! " On returning from holiday, they received baby Domenik and began to experience the joys of interrupted nights. Christian has accepted his new brother very well and is quite solicitous when he cries. As if to increase the pressure, Thomas slipped on some steps and injured his knee, thereby rendering himself immobile. Julia says that she now has 3 babies to look after. Julia is also very busy with her new business ( initially, teaching Business English to Companies ), so she will have to be very careful not to get over tired. Vic & Brenda are itching to make a visit, but are waiting until J & T are ready to receive visitors. Click here to see photos.

Christian's adoption is at last finalised. He is now Christian Dan Roethemeier. Julia has explained this to him. He won't understand, but, at least, the seeds are sown and, when he is older it will not be a surprise to him.

Vic's Chemo and Radio Therapy treatment has now stopped. He remains on a daily maintenance dose of Thalidamide.  This will  be reviewed regularly. He now awaits surgery on his neck as the top vertebra has been damaged by the Myeloma. The surgeon intends  insert a rod to bypass the vertebra and fuse the neck to the skull.

There has been an interesting postscript to the story of Grandfather Joseph Warwicker's shipwreck ( see Family Tales ). There has been an exchange of emails between Vic and two great grandsons of the ship's master ( Captain Richard Tyrran ). The two great grandsons contacted Vic independently. One of them lives in Canada. His parents emigrated there from Wales in the 1970s and the two cousins did not know each other. Obviously, the parents did, but had lost touch with each other, so, now the two families are back in contact.
